Rectal Cancer is a common malignancy. A standard treatment approach for patients with rectal cancer involves pre-operative treatment followed by resection. The resection can lead to surgical complications and long-term consequences. A Watch-and-Wait approach can be considered in patients who achieve a complete clinical response to pre-operative treatments.
The RENO study (A longitudinal cohort study of the Watch-and-Wait in complete clinical responders after chemo-radiotherapy for localised rectal cancer), investigates the safety of the Watch-and-Wait approach. The study also investigates biomarkers and Patient Reported Outcome Measures in this setting.
An update on recruitment and available safety data from the RENO study are presented in this meeting
