Conducting an analysis of internet-based search trends from the New Zealand public over the previous 5 years produced interesting search data and gives fascinating insights into how the popular culture and media may influence patients in their self-education regarding surgery and in particular Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
The figures below demonstrate multiple search trends including the rate of searches conducted for different search terms “Plastic Surgery”, “Cosmetic Surgery”, “Aesthetic Surgery” over the last 5 years.
Data was extracted regarding the 5 most prolific cities conducting searches for “Plastic Surgery” in New Zealand over the previous 5 years as well as up and coming related searches individuals are conducting concurrently with search terms related to “Plastic Surgery”.
The top city searching for “Plastic Surgery” on a per capita basis was Wellington, closely followed by Auckland and then Otago. Rounding out the top 5 was Bay of Plenty, and then Canterbury.
