Maira is a General Practitioner and Head of Department at the Māori Indigenous Health Innovation, University of Otago, Christchurch, New Zealand.  She has experience in Hauora Māori health education and research. 

Maira is focussed on addressing Māori health inequities through medical education, service design and delivery, health research and through membership on appropriate committees and boards (including Te Tauraki, Ngāi Tahu Iwi Māori partnership board)
