Karen is a hand surgeon working at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. She has enjoyed a long and fruitful career initially training and working in orthopaedics and then for the last 30 years being part of a combined orthoplastics hands service; the best of both worlds. Karen has been fortunate to have enjoyed much of that life with a supportive partner with whom she has had two wonderful children, now leading their own lives. Karen's interests now are hand surgery in the public sector and particularly teaching. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, tramping, cooking, books, music and good films, shared with friends and family.
