Cindy (Junyao) Zhang is a final year medical student at the University of Melbourne. After completing basic science research on signalling molecules mediating cancer cachexia at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre during her undergrad, she transitioned to clinical surgical oncology research during her MD years. Working with the surgical unit at Western Health for last year, she developed a strong interest in colorectal surgery research, specifically the prognostic impacts of body composition on long-term outcomes as well as post-operative outcomes in CRC patients.
