Dr Carroll is in her final six months of general surgical training at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, Australia. She has undertaken her PhD through the University of Newcastle in the field of neutrophil extracellular traps in colorectal surgery and specifically colorectal cancer – a relatively unexplored zone in general surgery.
