Gabriel is the Professor of Transplantation Surgery and Head of Transplant Division at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow. His clinical focus is multi-organ transplantation. Gabriel has a particular research interest in the role of technology in transplantation, organ perfusion and reconditioning and has been one of the pioneers in the field of novel organ perfusion and preservation technologies in the UK especially for the development of Normothermic Regional Perfusion in DCD donation. Gabriel is the President of the European Society for Organ Transplantation.
