From the islands of the Maldives, Shaba moved to Australia in 2015 to complete her Bachelor in Health Sciences and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Queensland. It was her 3rd year colorectal placement at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital that sparked her interest in general surgery. She later went on to complete an elective placement in transplant surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital which cemented her passion. She has completed her internship and a surgical RMO year at Townsville University Hospital and is now a PHO in general surgery and paediatric surgery.
