A/Prof Daniel Steffens is the Director of the Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (SOuRCe) at RPAH, Sydney. He manages and supervises a large research team working on >250 research projects across several surgical specialties. He is an A/Prof at the University of Sydney, where he contributes to teaching postgraduate students and supervises a number of MD, MPhil and PhD students. His research interests focus on enhancing surgical and patient-reported outcomes following major cancer surgery and the effectiveness of patient optimization before surgery. A/Prof Steffens is the principal investigator of the NHMRC-funded PRIORITY Trial, and the MRFF-funded PRIORITY-CONNECT 2 Trial. He is also the founder of the Global (P)rehabilitation Initiative.
